According to SayArt on July 13, DB World has launched the 8th Dream Big Art Awards, inviting submissions from both student and general categories. Applications will be accepted from July 20 through 6:00 p.m. on September 14.
The competition accepts works under an open theme. Entries should balance familiarity with creative value while remaining accessible to a broad audience. The organizer advises participants to avoid content that may cause discomfort or offense.
Eligible submissions include media art videos that can be displayed on digital screens. The guidelines encourage visually engaging works designed for public audiences and discourage pieces dominated by overly dark imagery or unclear color presentation.
Applicants may enter either the student division, open to enrolled undergraduate and graduate students in Korea, or the general division, which also accepts leave-of-absence students and international applicants. Team entries are permitted without a limit on team size, although one representative must be designated to receive the prize.
Preliminary judging will take place in September, with shortlisted entrants announced on September 21. Final submissions are due on October 26, and winners are expected to be announced in November, when prize payments are also scheduled.
The required submission is one Reel-format video containing one to three works, each no longer than one minute. Participants may also submit an optional work designed for the exhibition specifications of the Seoul Gallery at Seoul City Hall. The organizer stated that applications without the required Reel submission will not proceed to evaluation.
The competition offers a combined prize pool of KRW 120 million across required and optional categories. The required category will recognize 36 winners or teams with a total of KRW 70 million. First prizes are set at KRW 10 million for the general division and KRW 6 million for the student division.
The optional category will award 21 winners or teams with a total of KRW 50 million. Top prizes are KRW 8 million for the general division and KRW 5 million for the student division. The organizer added that award categories and prize allocations may be revised if necessary.
Winning works are scheduled to be exhibited at the DB Financial Center Media Art Gallery, the DB Insurance Busan Media Art Gallery, and the Seoul Gallery "My Friend Seoul" at Seoul City Hall. Final exhibition schedules and presentation formats are expected to be confirmed after the selection process.
