Pearl Abyss has posted strong financial results for the fourth quarter of 2024, reporting revenue of 95.7 billion KRW, marking a 13.4% year-on-year increase. The company also turned profitable, achieving an operating profit of 2.4 billion KRW and a net profit of 46.8 billion KRW.

For the full year of 2024, Pearl Abyss recorded a total revenue of 342.4 billion KRW, with an operating loss of 12.1 billion KRW and a net profit of 61 billion KRW. While the company continued to report an operating loss, the deficit significantly narrowed compared to the previous year. Notably, net profit surged by 301.3% year-on-year, indicating improved financial stability.

Pearl Abyss’ overseas market presence remained robust, with international sales accounting for 82% of total revenue. By platform, PC led with 76% of sales, followed by mobile at 20% and console at 4%, reflecting the company's continued dominance in the PC gaming sector.

The company’s flagship MMORPG Black Desert played a pivotal role in driving growth. In 2024, it completed its Land of the Morning Light expansion with the final Seoul chapter, blending Eastern and Western fantasy elements. Furthermore, Pearl Abyss successfully launched Black Desert in China after extensive preparation, marking a significant milestone in its regional expansion. The fourth quarter also introduced Deadeye, the first-ever firearms-wielding class in the Black Desert universe, adding fresh gameplay elements to the franchise.

Meanwhile, anticipation is building for Crimson Desert, Pearl Abyss' highly awaited open-world action RPG. During The Game Awards (TGA) held in Los Angeles last December, the company announced that the game is set for release in the fourth quarter of 2024. The newly revealed trailer showcased expansive adventure elements, intense combat, and groundbreaking visuals powered by Pearl Abyss’ next-generation BlackSpace Engine, highlighting the game’s ambitious scale and technical innovations.

Looking ahead, Pearl Abyss plans to strengthen live services for both Black Desert and EVE Online while ramping up marketing efforts for Crimson Desert. The company will kick off its promotional campaign at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in March in the United States, where it will host live gameplay demos and meetings with global publishers.

A Pearl Abyss representative stated, “At GDC, we will showcase a hands-on demo of Crimson Desert and hold discussions with international publishing partners. Following this, we will continue to participate in major gaming events to build anticipation ahead of launch.”

The company also emphasized its commitment to maintaining the highest production standards, stating, “We consider Crimson Desert to be on par with AAA titles and will price it accordingly. While ensuring a high level of polish, we are fully committed to meeting the announced release schedule.”

With a solid financial performance, expanding global reach, and a high-profile launch on the horizon, Pearl Abyss is positioned for continued growth in 2025, reinforcing its reputation as a key player in the global gaming industry.
