Swiss Artist Nicolas Party, Inspired by Kim Hong Do, Holds Major Retrospective

Swiss artist Nicolas Party’s major retrospective, “Dust,” will be held at the Hoam Museum of Art from August 31, 2024, to January 19, 2025.

The artist is widely known for his striking style, using the pastel medium to reinterpret traditional genres such as landscape, still life, and portraiture in a contemporary way.

In this exhibition, eight newly created portraits of imaginary immortals, inspired by Kim Hong-do’s Ten Longevity Symbols and Daoist Immortals from the Joseon Dynasty, will be unveiled.

The artist will showcase 48 existing works and 20 new pieces, including five large pastel murals created specifically for this exhibition.

The exhibition space, reminiscent of medieval architecture, provides an immersive environment where the artwork and space merge.

Through this exhibition, visitors will experience the transience and endurance of human existence, reflected through the artist’s unique perspective.
