The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism together with the Korea Creative Content Agency will be hosting the “KOREA: Cubically Imagined” exhibition on Korean (Hallyu) content and Korean cultural heritage realizing with immersive technology from October 12 (local time) through October 30 in Guanajuato, Mexico.
The exhibition will be held at the Guanajuato University Exhibition Hall in conjunction with the “Festival Internacional Cervantino” (known as El Cervantino) in which the Republic of Korea will be participating as a Guest of Honor to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties with Mexico.
Introducing diverse Hallyu content combining immersive technology with popular music, movies, and cultural heritage
“KOREA: Cubically Imagined” presents the future of the content industry, with a focus on realistic content that stands ready to become a universal cultural language. The exhibition will feature contents in 18 formats, including two representative forms of contents, that combine a wide range of immersive technologies and intellectual property (IP).
First, the main performance scenes from the BTS concert “BTS Permission to Dance On Stage – Las Vegas” held in Las Vegas last April will be realized using three-sided LED screens, 3D sound and light and special effects. Hallyu (K-culture) fans visiting the exhibition will be able to experience the same atmosphere like the audience in the April concert. Moreover, scenes from the film Parasite, which won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, will be revisited by the actors' perspective, including the living room, underground space in the upscape mansion, and the semi-basement apartment via virtual reality.
MCST official in charge of the policy noted, “As the exhibition of immersive content overseas continues, we have witnessed more and more interest and support from K-culture fans around the world. The Ministry will support K-culture (hallyu) content embedded in immersive technology to establish itself as an appealing cultural lingua franca that captures the hearts of people across the world.
