Nalini Malani's 'My Reality is Different' Debuts at Arario Gallery Seoul, 2023

Seoul, August 26, 2023 SayArt -Arario Gallery Seoul is set to host Nalini Malani's solo exhibition "My Reality is Different" from September 1 to October 21, 2023. Renowned globally, Nalini Malani (b. 1946) is a pioneer of video art and is considered one of the most significant female contemporary artists from India. Over her 50-year career, she has produced innovative and experimental works across various mediums including painting, drawing, video, film, animation, and installation art. Her works often incorporate characters and themes from literature, philosophy, history, and mythology, addressing issues related to inequality, violence, societal oppression, especially those associated with women. Arario Gallery Seoul will showcase the artist's recent video, painting, and drawing pieces throughout the gallery.
Born in India in 1946, Malani graduated from the JJ School of Art in Mumbai in 1969 and studied art in Paris, France, through a scholarship program. She has held solo exhibitions in over 20 major art institutions, including the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (2023), the National Gallery in London (2022), M+ in Hong Kong (2022), the Whitechapel Gallery in London (2021), and the Centre Pompidou in Paris (2017). Recently, in 2023, she received the Kyoto Prize in the "Arts and Philosophy" category. Her artworks are housed in prominent museums globally, such as the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Tate Modern in London, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
