NewJeans, a rising K-pop girl group, has achieved a new milestone as their hit single "Ditto" surpassed 300 million streams on Spotify as of Monday, according to an announcement by the platform on Wednesday. The song was released in December 2021 as a pre-release track from their single album "OMG" and quickly gained popularity both in Korea and internationally. It landed on both Billboard's Hot 100 and UK's Official single chart top 100, staying on the former for five weeks and peaking at No. 82, and on the latter for two weeks and at No. 95. "Ditto" also held the No. 1 spot on Melon, the largest music chart in Korea, for a record-breaking 99 days.
NewJeans' success hasn't gone unnoticed by industry insiders, with Billboard magazine naming the group as one of the "K-Pop Star to Watch" in a recent article. The publication praised the group for being "part of the new wave of acts driving the genre forward," highlighting their unique sound and style.
Despite being a relatively new group, NewJeans has already made an impact in the competitive K-pop scene, capturing the attention of fans with their catchy tunes and dynamic performances. The group consists of five members - Soojin, Yuna, Jiwon, Eunji, and Yerin - and has been steadily gaining popularity since their debut in 2020.
With "Ditto" continuing to break records and the group's rising profile in the industry, fans are eagerly anticipating what's next for NewJeans. As they continue to carve out their place in the K-pop scene, it's clear that this talented group is here to stay.
