Seventeen, the South Korean boy band, achieved a significant milestone by topping Melon's Top 100 chart, becoming the first boy band to do so this year with their latest song, "God Of Music."
"God Of Music" serves as the lead track from Seventeen's 11th EP, "Seventeenth Heaven," which was released on a Monday. Historically, domestic music charts have been dominated by girl groups like NewJeans, (G)I-DLE, and IVE, but Seventeen's achievement marks a notable shift in 2023.
The success of "God Of Music" extended beyond South Korea, with the song claiming the top position on the iTunes Top Song charts in 29 regions worldwide. Furthermore, the album debuted at No. 1 on Japan's iTunes Album chart and secured a leading position on Line Music's trending albums chart.
On the day of its release, "Seventeenth Heaven" sold an impressive 3.28 million copies. The band's previous EP, "FML," reached even higher heights, selling over 3.99 million copies on its release day. Notably, "FML" became the first K-pop album to sell over 3 million copies in a single day.
Preorders for "Seventeenth Heaven" surged to an astonishing 5.2 million copies as of Monday, establishing it as the most preordered K-pop album to date.
