“Believer 2” (Netflix)
Director Baek, recognized for his stylish mise-en-scene, aims to provide a seamless narrative continuation for characters relocating from Yongsan Station in Seoul to a snowy hut in Norway, where the first film concluded. Cho Won-ho (Cho Jin-woong), a determined detective investigating Asia's largest drug ring, takes center stage in this installment, embarking on a journey to Norway in pursuit of the elusive drug gang leader.
"Believer 2" features Han Hyo-joo as the character Big Knife, entrusted with managing drug affairs for gang leader Mr. Lee. Han, known for her role in "Beauty Inside," took on the challenge of delivering several lines in Chinese, immersing herself in language lessons to ensure authenticity.
Oh Seung-hoon, cast through an audition process, plays the "new" Seo Young-rock, succeeding Ryu Joon-yeol from the previous installment. Director Baek commended Oh's voice tone and clear pronunciation, deeming it a perfect match for the character's nuanced portrayal.
The film, set to be released on Netflix, explores the entangled stories of characters Won-ho, Brian, and Big Knife, promising to captivate audiences with its crime action and dramatic elements. "Believer 2" marks a unique cinematic venture as Korea's first midquel, offering a fresh perspective on storytelling within the established film universe.
