(G)I-DLE has captured the attention of Japanese viewers with their first-ever appearance on a live morning television broadcast in the country, marking a new milestone in the group’s expanding global presence. The group made a surprise appearance on TBS’s LOVE it! on March 31, a popular variety show that airs during weekday mornings and garners a wide range of viewers.
Their participation in the program was the result of a unique connection. Comedian and long-time host Kawashima Akira, who has openly expressed his admiration for (G)I-DLE, invited them to celebrate his fifth anniversary on the show. The group accepted the invitation with enthusiasm, stating, “We heard that Kawashima and Tamura are huge fans of ours, so we really wanted to appear on LOVE it!.”
(G)I-DLE treated viewers to a special performance featuring their hit songs “Queencard,” the title track of their sixth mini album, and “Allergy,” a standout track from their second studio album I feel. Their dynamic live vocals and engaging stage presence energized the studio and delighted fans watching at home.
Beyond their performance, the members also participated in a comedic game segment involving a ping-pong challenge using a bath tub as a prop, showcasing their variety show talents and natural charm. Their humorous and lively participation added a bright and memorable energy to the morning broadcast.
This appearance follows their recent performance on March 29 at THE PERFORMANCE, a large-scale music festival held at K-Arena Yokohama. As headliners of the event, (G)I-DLE reaffirmed their growing popularity in Japan with a commanding stage set that highlighted their artistic identity and international appeal.
The group's recent activities demonstrate their increasing investment in the Japanese market. By blending high-impact musical performances with culturally attuned entertainment formats, (G)I-DLE continues to solidify their position as one of K-pop’s most influential global acts.
