K-pop powerhouse IVE has made a strong start to the year, dominating music charts with their pre-release track Rebel Heart. The song, part of their third EP IVE EMPATHY, was unveiled on January 13 and quickly soared to the top of major music charts, claiming the number one spot on Bugs' real-time chart, Melon's Hot 100, and VIBE's domestic rising chart.

Rebel Heart delivers a powerful narrative, portraying a march of solidarity among rebellious spirits. To celebrate the release, the group hosted a live comeback countdown, where they reconnected with their fandom, DIVE, and shared insights into the song and album.

During the broadcast, Jang Wonyoung explained the decision to pre-release Rebel Heart. “Since January marks the beginning of a new year, we felt this song could offer comfort and empathy to those starting new resolutions or persevering in their journeys,” she said.

Rei elaborated on the album’s theme, stating, “As the title suggests, IVE EMPATHY revolves around the concept of empathy. While our previous albums focused on self-love and introspection, this time, we wanted to explore empathy from various perspectives.”

Gaeul added, “As IVE grows, we aim to show our growth musically as well. This album is about maturing beyond ourselves, recognizing the pain and struggles around us, and finding collective growth through shared empathy.”

The members also revealed behind-the-scenes details about the concept photos for the album. Liz shared, “All the photos were taken using a film camera, so we couldn’t monitor the results in real time.” Gaeul teased fans, saying, “We’ll be wearing crowns during our performances, just like in the concept photos.”

Additionally, the group gave fans a sneak peek of the choreography for Rebel Heart. In one part of the routine, they act out the lyric "Hate me" by throwing a symbolic punch into the air.

Concluding the broadcast, IVE expressed their determination for the year ahead. “We’re ready to run full speed this year. Please look forward to what we have in store,” they said enthusiastically.

IVE is set to make their official comeback with the full release of IVE EMPATHY on February 3, promising fans another milestone in their musical journey.
