Korean Western artist So-hyun An holds a solo exhibition, 'Wandering Mind' in Seoul.
An is an artist with a unique history of exploring videos after majoring in art at Seoul Arts High School and Korea National University of the Arts and back to painting. In the exhibition, she reveals 19 new works that differ in direction from the existing paintings she painted before.
In the exhibition, the artist presents oil paintings depicting the landscape of the mind with fantasy elements. She reconstructs the landscape of the mind on the canvas with its unique warm and soft colors and screen composition.
The artist tries to express the journey of the mind she has experienced through paintings. She sometimes wants to share with visitors the memories of the journey of the mind, which freely explores the calm and freedom from the mountains to the sea, in an imaginary world.
The characters in An's paintings do not have detailed facial descriptions, allowing visitors to freely interpret themselves. Characters without facial descriptions in the landscapes with familiar and unfamiliar fantasy elements provide their journey to visitors.
An official at Gallery Unplugged, where the exhibition will be held, said, "The paintings with fantasy production in the rich realism that have been shown in the artist's work deserve attention," adding, "People who see the painting will naturally watch their hearts."
The exhibition will be held until Jan. 26 next year at Gallery Unplugged in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and admission is free.
