Starship Entertainment, the agency representing IVE, has provided an update on its ongoing legal response to malicious online behavior targeting the group. On December 19, the agency announced its efforts to address defamatory comments, the spread of false information, personal attacks, and other acts of online harassment against IVE.
In September, Starship retained a professional legal firm and filed multiple complaints with the Gangnam Police Station. The cases have since been forwarded to the relevant prosecutors’ offices with recommendations for indictment, and the agency is now awaiting the outcome of criminal proceedings against the accused.
Starship emphasized its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy. “We continue to monitor online platforms and will take all necessary legal measures against any criminal acts. No leniency or settlements will be considered,” the agency stated.
The agency is also extending its efforts to combat offenses committed on international platforms. It confirmed that it is exploring local criminal complaints and cooperation with investigative authorities regarding crimes occurring on social media platforms and communities based overseas.
Starship reiterated its dedication to protecting the members of IVE from harm. “We are committed to eradicating criminal acts against our artists. We are also providing professional counseling and support to ensure their well-being,” the statement read.
The company also expressed gratitude to IVE’s fans for their active involvement. “The reports and cooperation from our fans have been invaluable. We sincerely ask for your continued attention and support. Once again, thank you for standing by us and IVE.”
This firm stance by Starship Entertainment highlights the growing importance of addressing cyberbullying and harassment in the entertainment industry. As public figures continue to face undue scrutiny and abuse, the agency’s proactive measures serve as a reminder of the need to create a safer online environment.
Fans and industry professionals alike have praised Starship’s efforts, recognizing the critical role of legal action in combating malicious behavior. Moving forward, IVE’s case will likely be seen as a precedent for addressing similar issues in the K-pop industry.
