SM Entertainment Confirms Breakup Following Public Admission of Dating

Local media reports on Tuesday indicated that Karina, a member of the K-pop group aespa, has ended her relationship with actor Lee Jaewook, just five weeks after publicly confirming their dating status.

SM Entertainment, the agency representing Karina, confirmed the breakup, providing no further details.

Karina, aged 24 and the leader of aespa, became the first member of the quartet to openly date. Following the revelation, she issued an apology in response to some fans expressing disappointment and even threatening to withdraw support for the group. The label's stock price experienced a decline for several days following the news.

Despite the personal matter, Karina, along with her bandmates, traveled to Hong Kong last week to participate in KCON Hong Kong 2024, held over the weekend. The group is set to make a comeback in May with their first full-length album.
