Program Adjusted for Violinist Hilary Hahn's Inclusion as Replacement for Ailing Pianist Son Yeol-eum

Pianist Son Yeol-eum will not be performing with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Jaap van Zweden as scheduled for the concerts at the Lotte Concert Hall on Thursday and the Seoul Arts Center on Friday due to health concerns.

In her place, violinist Hilary Hahn will be substituting for Son at both concerts. As a result of this change, the program has been modified accordingly. Nina Shekhar’s “Lumina,” scheduled for its Asian premiere on Thursday, and Brahms’ Symphony No. 2 will proceed as planned. However, Hahn will perform Brahms’ violin concerto instead of Son’s previously scheduled Mozart’s piano concerto No. 24.

Recently, Son Yeol-eum was announced as the recipient of the grand prize at the 13th Daewon Music Awards by its organizer, the Daewon Cultural Foundation. The award recognizes outstanding achievements in the musical arts both domestically and internationally within the past year. Son was honored for her contributions to the Korean music scene, described by the foundation as "bringing fresh air" to the industry.

The ceremony for the Daewon Music Awards is scheduled to take place at the Westin Josun Hotel in Jung District, central Seoul, on May 20. The grand prize winner will receive a plaque and a cash prize of 100 million won ($73,000), while winners of other categories will receive a plaque and 30 million won each.
