SM Entertainment, a leading K-pop entity, has announced a strategic partnership with British entertainment company M&B. The collaboration aims to establish a boy group in the United Kingdom, combining SM's expertise in K-pop music, videos, and choreography with M&B's experience in producing popular British competition shows such as "The X Factor" and "Britain's Got Talent."
Led by Nigel Hall, M&B's CEO, and co-CEO Dawn Airey, a former CEO of Getty Images, along with Russ Lindsay, co-founder of James Grant Media Group, the UK’s largest independent media, music, and sports talent agency, M&B will be responsible for casting members for the upcoming boy group debut.
SM Entertainment's music publishing affiliate, Kreation Music Rights, will produce the songs for the group's debut. The strategic partnership is part of SM's broader strategy to expand its presence in the European music market, marking a significant move into the UK with this new project.
Joseph Chang, SM's Chief Business Officer, expressed the venture as a meaningful first step into the European market, emphasizing SM's commitment to leveraging its K-pop production capabilities to foster global growth, encompassing major music markets in the US, Latin America, and Europe.
