"Angels in America," a landmark work by Tony Kushner, premiered in 1991 and is set in the 1980s, exploring the intersecting lives of individuals affected by issues of race, politics, religion, and sexual orientation. The play has been noted for its in-depth portrayal of marginalized communities and has received critical acclaim for its raw depiction of the struggles faced by those living with suppressed desires in a society marked by prejudice.
Yoo will portray Prior Walter, a character who is a terminally ill gay man grappling with his illness and the disintegration of his relationship. "Angels in America" continues to resonate with audiences for its candid exploration of difficult social issues and remains a significant work in contemporary theater. Yoo's decision to expand his acting repertoire by stepping onto the stage has been met with considerable attention and interest.
The performance marks a significant milestone in Yoo's career, as he transitions from screen to stage, demonstrating his dedication to broadening his artistic horizons.
