▲ G-DRAGON's instagramUnder the Immigration Act, the justice minister has the authority to impose a travel ban lasting up to a month on a suspect under investigation. Extensions can be granted based on investigators' requests.
G-Dragon's real name, Kwon Ji-yong, became subject to the travel ban two days after his booking. The ban, which expired on Saturday, will not be extended following the negative results from the detailed narcotics analysis conducted by the National Forensic Service.
Simultaneously, the police have sought an extension of the travel ban on actor Lee Sun-kyun, known for his role in the Oscar-winning movie "Parasite," in relation to ongoing drug investigations.
Lee faces allegations of using marijuana and other illegal drugs at the residence of a hostess in Seoul's Gangnam district since the beginning of the year. Although a reagent test by the police last month showed negative results, the National Forensic Service conducted thorough drug tests on his hair samples twice this month, both of which returned negative.
The police have not disclosed the specific date for lifting Lee Sun-kyun's travel ban or outlined their plans for future investigations in the case.
