Yim Si-wan to Host Season Five Opener of "SNL Korea"

Actor chosen as the first guest host for the upcoming season of the Korean adaptation of "Saturday Night Live."

Yim Si-wan is set to kick off the fifth season of Coupang Play's popular comedy show "SNL Korea," according to an announcement made by the streaming service on Friday. "SNL Korea" is the Korean version of the renowned American comedy program "Saturday Night Live." 

▲ Courtesy of COUPANG PLAYYim Si-wan, who expressed his honor at being selected as the first guest host for the upcoming season, gained significant acclaim for his portrayal of Jang Byeong-tae in the 2023 series "Boyhood." The release date for the fifth season has not been disclosed.

The actor, who debuted as a member of the boy band ZE:A in 2010, has risen to prominence through notable acting roles in TV shows like MBC's "Triangle" (2014) and tvN's "Misaeng" (2014). Yim recently featured in Coupang Play's original comedy series "Boyhood," which concluded on December 22, showcasing his comedic skills. Reports have also surfaced regarding his casting in the second season of Netflix's "Squid Game" in the previous year.

The most recent season of "SNL Korea" concluded in September, featuring guest hosts including actors Han Ye-ri, Jung Woo-sung, and Daniel Henney.
