The Seoul Light DDP 2023 Fall event, held from August 31 to September 10, welcomed a total of 538,000 visitors, averaging 50,000 daily attendees. Organized by the Seoul Design Foundation, this event coincided with Seoul's cultural event season, captivating visitors with immersive media art by renowned artists Miguel Chevalier and Dan Acher. The exhibition made optimal use of the DDP building's curved surface and the sky to showcase high-quality media art.
The event garnered considerable interest, leading to an extension of viewing hours until 11 p.m. on weekends to accommodate the higher-than-expected number of visitors. Notably, the number of foreign visitors increased significantly, underlining the event's appeal on a global scale. The organizers took measures to accommodate the influx of international attendees, doubling the number of foreign service personnel and ensuring all guides and promotional materials were available in English.
'Seoul Light DDP' generated substantial buzz on various social media platforms, reflecting citizens' enthusiasm for the event. A keyword search analysis revealed a 46% increase in search volume compared to the previous year's event period.
Responding to the positive feedback from citizens, the event plans to return in December as 'Seoul Light DDP 2023 Winter,' aiming to create an enchanting 'festival of light' for visitors, aligning with the year-end festivities. The December event is anticipated to incorporate themes such as Christmas and year-end countdown to ensure an enjoyable experience for all. CEO Lee Kyung-don emphasized the commitment to providing exceptional content for the December event, making it accessible and delightful for a global audience.
