LOS ANGELES — “Golden,” a track from the animated U.S. film KPop Demon Hunters, has claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for a fourth consecutive week, Billboard said Monday in a preview of its upcoming chart.
The song, performed by Korean American artists Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami as the fictional girl group HUNTR/X, held off Alex Warren’s “Ordinary,” which remains at No. 2 for a third week.
Ejae, a composer trained at K-pop powerhouse SM Entertainment, and Rei Ami were both born in Korea. The track was co-produced by Teddy and 24 of The Black Label, known for their work with top K-pop acts.
After debuting at No. 81, “Golden” steadily climbed the chart — reaching Nos. 23, 6, 4, 2 and then 1. It briefly slipped back to No. 2 before regaining the top spot two weeks ago.
The single has now surpassed BTS’s “Dynamite” (2020), which led the Hot 100 for three weeks, to become the K-pop genre’s second-longest-running No. 1, behind the group’s “Butter” (2021), which reigned for 10 weeks.
According to Billboard, “Golden” earned 34.5 million streams, down 2 percent from the previous week, along with 22.1 million radio airplay impressions, up 13 percent, and 9,000 copies sold, up 4 percent, in the United States from Aug. 29 to Sept. 4.
Three other songs from the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack also placed in the top 10: “Your Idol” and “Soda Pop” each slipped one position to Nos. 4 and 5, while “How It’s Done” held steady at No. 9.
With four simultaneous top-10 hits, KPop Demon Hunters became the first soundtrack in the Hot 100’s 67-year history to achieve the feat, Billboard said.
