SEOUL, South Korea — After their sudden rise to stardom in 2021, K-pop quartet Brave Girls have signed with a new agency, Warner Music Korea, and are gearing up for a summer comeback.
All four members — Minyoung, Yujeong, Yuna, and Eunji — joined Warner Music Korea, according to the label on Thursday. "We came to a mutual conclusion that we would prioritize the activities as a full unit. We will not hesitate to support their career to the fullest," Warner Music Korea said in a statement.
Despite their newfound fame, Brave Girls had been facing uncertainty over their future as their previous agency, Brave Entertainment, owns the trademark to the group's name. However, it is likely they will continue their career under a new name.
Brave Girls originally debuted in 2011, but the lineup kept changing as the group struggled to gain traction. It wasn't until 2021 that they hit the limelight, when their four-year-old single "Rollin'" soared back up the charts. By that time, they had become a quartet.
Their popularity continued to grow with the success of "Chi Mat Ba Ram," the title track of their 5th EP, "Summer Queen." Despite this, Brave Girls officially terminated their activities in February when their exclusive contract with Brave Entertainment came to an end.
Now, with their signing to Warner Music Korea, the quartet is ready to start a new chapter in their career. "We are aiming for a comeback this summer. We will be back with a fresh look and better music," said Minyoung.
In addition to their upcoming comeback, Brave Girls have also been involved in several collaborations. In 2019, they worked with Crush and Pink Sweat$. They also teamed up with Mamamoo's Hwasa and Dua Lipa, Changmo and Stormzy, Jessi, Sunmi and Ed Sheeran, Chungha and Christopher, and most recently Minnie of (G)I-dle and Anne-Marie.
Fans of the group are eagerly awaiting their return, with many taking to social media to express their excitement for the upcoming comeback. With their talent and newfound fame, Brave Girls are sure to continue making waves in the K-pop industry for years to come.
