South Korean Agency Seeks Talent Worldwide in Pursuit of the Next Big Thing in K-Pop

In an ambitious move, SM Entertainment, one of South Korea's leading K-pop agencies, has initiated the "2024 SM Global Audition." The audition, open to individuals born between 2005 and 2013, welcomes applicants of any gender and nationality. Aspiring talents can choose from categories such as vocal, rap, dance, and acting.

Pre-registration, a prerequisite for participation, is exclusively available on the global audition website. The agency strictly prohibits on-site applications, emphasizing the importance of pre-registration. 

▲ Courtesy of SM EntertainmentCommencing on January 6 in Seoul, the on-site auditions will progress to various South Korean cities, including Daegu, Busan, Daejeon, Wonju, Gwangju, and Jeju Island, with additional sessions in Seoul on February 3. Following the domestic auditions, the agency plans to extend its search to international cities.

The global audition's first overseas stop is Bangkok on February 24, followed by auditions in Japan, including Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, and Fukuoka in March. The quest for talent also reaches the United States, with auditions scheduled in Los Angeles on March 23 and Toronto on March 31.

Applicants must adhere to specific guidelines for their chosen category. Vocalists are required to sing without instrumental accompaniment, while dance applicants must showcase their skills through freestyle dancing to a randomly selected piece of music.

Application deadlines vary by region, and detailed information about on-site audition schedules and venues will be communicated via email. Successful candidates can expect to hear back from the agency within a month after the on-site audition.
