Officials in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, have officially denied widespread online rumors claiming that K-pop superstar G-Dragon would perform at a free outdoor concert during the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. The city issued a statement on Sunday clarifying that no such performance has been planned or authorized.

The rumors specifically mentioned that G-Dragon would perform at Cheomseongdae, one of Asia's oldest surviving astronomical observatories. This historic site, dating back to the seventh century, serves as an enduring symbol of the ancient Silla Kingdom, which existed from 53 BC to AD 935. However, city officials emphasized that all recent online posts suggesting a G-Dragon concert at this location are completely false.

In their official statement, Gyeongju authorities stressed that there are no official plans whatsoever for a G-Dragon concert at Cheomseongdae. The city also issued a strong warning to the public, stating that any preregistration processes or applications for such events are entirely groundless and should be ignored.

"We ask residents and visitors not to be misled by baseless posts and to verify information through official channels," a city official emphasized, urging people to rely only on verified sources for accurate information about APEC summit events.

Interestingly, G-Dragon does have an official connection to the APEC summit, serving as a publicity ambassador for the event. In this capacity, he previously participated without compensation in a promotional video for the upcoming summit. The video was produced by Shin Woo-seok, CEO of the film production company Dolphiners.

In related news, Gyeongju officials announced that a planned fireworks show scheduled during the APEC summit has been canceled due to safety concerns, further demonstrating the city's commitment to ensuring secure and well-organized summit proceedings.
