South Korean contemporary artist Kim Jeong Bum holds a solo exhibition, 'Cobalt Blue's Charisma.'
Kim is an artist who creates works that reveal essential values by dismantling the concept of work through the medium of ceramic and fusion and reconstructing heterogeneous things.
Adding a modern touch to traditional ceramics, the artist's creative method has greatly contributed to the development of modern Korean ceramics culture.
The artist continues labor-intensive work with clay to create attractive and detailed works and reveals works using the color cobalt blue through exhibitions.
He designed the exhibition with charismatic works that directly paint cobalt blue in his works and capture the energy of the universe floating in the air.
Kim's ceramic pottery combines images of masterpieces from Western painting history with heterogeneous elements, such as introducing current issues and themes of time while using traditional blue and white porcelain techniques.
At first glance, his ceramic works are reminiscent of traditional pottery or Chinese blue-and-white porcelain with European motifs, but if one looks closely, the audience can see the artist's own creative and expressive devices.
The exhibition will be held from Apr. 12 to May 4 at the Khalifa Gallery in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
