"The Deal," an eight-part mystery thriller series that premiered locally on October 6, is set for a global release on the streaming service Rakuten Viki. The show experienced a surge in paid subscribers and unique visitors on the domestic streaming platform Wavve in the four days following its premiere. It also attained the top spot on the Taiwanese streaming platform FriDay.
Wavve announced that "The Deal" will be available globally on Rakuten Viki, reaching audiences in over 200 European, North and South American, and Oceanian countries. The exact release date on Rakuten Viki is yet to be confirmed, according to a Wavve official. Lead actor Yoo Seung-ho will participate in a Rakuten Viki live broadcast titled "K-drama Day" on November 29 to promote the series to global fans.
Additionally, "The Deal" is set to make history as the first Korean drama series to screen at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia. The festival, running from November 30 to December 9, will host the director Lee Jung-gon and lead actor Yoo Seung-ho as guests for a screening and other events.
Adapted from the popular webtoon series by Woonam20, the show follows three high school friends reuniting at a restaurant. After a night of drinking, two friends decide to kidnap the third and demand a 10 billion won ($7.7 million) ransom from his mother.
