aespa's latest EP, "Drama," released on November 10, has achieved over one million copies in sales within the week following its release, according to Hanteo Chart, a music sales tracker. This marks aespa's third consecutive album to surpass the one million mark.
Prior to "Drama," aespa's second EP, "Girls," also sold over one million copies, while their third EP, "My World," achieved over two million copies in sales.
The success of "Drama" extends beyond domestic sales, as it topped QQ Music's digital album sales chart in China, earning a double platinum certification for reaching 2 million yuan ($27.6 million) in sales.
Alongside their music releases, aespa has introduced innovative experiences for fans. The group recently premiered a virtual reality (VR) concert titled "Lynk-pop: The 1st VR concert aespa" on October 25 at Megabox Coex theaters in Gangnam District, Seoul, running until Tuesday.
Following the VR concert, aespa launched a metaverse community named "aespa World" on Naver's metaverse platform Zepeto in collaboration with music technology company Verses on Friday. This metaverse community, based on the group's cultural universe, incorporates songs from their latest album, including the lead and title track, "Drama."
aespa, formed in 2020 under SM Entertainment, consists of four members: Karina, Winter, Giselle, and Ningning. The group is recognized for hits such as "Next Level" (2021), "Savage" (2021), and "Spicy."
