In an upcoming solo exhibition titled "BLUE: Walkies in Blue Planet," artist Louise Kwon invites audiences to delve into a world where the bonds between humans and animals are celebrated against the serene backdrop of the blue sky and sea. Set to be held at 'Artspace H' in Seongbuk-dong from October 17th to November 9th, this exhibit showcases approximately 20 pieces, each conveying the artist's profound connection with the natural world.
Kwon's work is an expression of the healing experiences and hope for life that stem from engaging with animals. The artist's profound joy and magical experiences while spending time with animals in nature form the basis of her creations. Through her artwork, she aims to convey the emotional healing that animals offer to humanity, advocating for animal therapy as a medium to clear emotions and find solace.
The dominant theme of blue in the exhibition symbolizes salvation and the journey towards transcendence and freedom, reminiscent of the vast sky and open sea. Kwon portrays this theme through the portrayal of a cat mom and her pet, both donning blue attire and walking together, epitomizing unity and shared purpose.
In Kwon's artistic perspective, animals represent the essence of love and motherhood, embodying a connection to nature and the world. Through her paintings, she paints a picture of a utopian world, transcending the challenges faced by both stray animals and modern society.
Louise Kwon, currently an adjunct professor at Sejong University, has received notable recognitions and awards for her contributions to the art world. Her deep-rooted passion for capturing life's essence and transcending trauma through her artwork is reflected in the meticulous process of layering oil paint on canvas, resulting in mesmerizing and meditative works that seem to freeze moments into eternity.
