Jimin, a member of the K-pop group BTS, donated 100 million won ($72,500) to the Gyeongsangnamdo Office of Education in South Gyeongsang on Thursday.
The donation, facilitated by Jimin's father, is intended to assist underprivileged students in South Gyeongsang. Jimin's father requested that the funds be used for this purpose, according to the office.
While Jimin grew up in Busan and has no direct connection to South Gyeongsang, the office expressed gratitude for his charitable gesture.
Jimin has a history of making donations to support students from low-income households, dating back to 2019. These donations typically take the form of scholarships and books distributed to various provinces and cities across South Korea.
The donation will be directed to the Future Educational Foundation of Gyeongsangnamdo, which is dedicated to supporting low-income individuals and is funded by the Gyeongsangnamdo Office of Education.
