The Hanok Heritage, South Korea's largest traditional Korean architecture hotel, has been recognized with a prestigious hospitality award at an international ceremony in Hong Kong. Cho Chung-il, the chairperson of The Hanok Heritage, accepted the award for Exceptional Architectural Preservation in South Korea in the Dramatic Design category at the Best of the Best 2026 Travel, Experiences & Hospitality Edition 2026 awards ceremony on October 23.
The awards ceremony was hosted by Robb Report Hong Kong, a luxury lifestyle publication that recognizes outstanding achievements in travel, hospitality, and experiential services across the Asia-Pacific region. The recognition highlights The Hanok Heritage's commitment to preserving and reimagining traditional Korean architectural elements while providing world-class hospitality services.
Located in Yeongwol, Gangwon Province, The Hanok Heritage offers guests a refined hospitality experience through the contemporary reinterpretation of hanok, traditional Korean architectural structures. The property successfully blends historical preservation with modern luxury amenities, creating a unique cultural experience that showcases Korea's architectural heritage to both domestic and international visitors.
The hotel initially launched in 2023 as an exclusive members-only property, catering to a select clientele seeking premium cultural experiences. However, recognizing the broader appeal and cultural significance of the property, The Hanok Heritage opened its doors to the general public in September, making this unique hospitality experience accessible to a wider range of travelers and cultural enthusiasts.
This international recognition comes at a time when Korean culture is gaining increased global attention, and The Hanok Heritage's award demonstrates the growing appreciation for Korea's traditional architecture and hospitality industry on the world stage.
