Art Basel Hong Kong, an international arts festival has finally begun. Due to rapid spread of COVID-19, the 2020 event was canceled, and the fairs in 2021 and 2022 were held in online.

국제적 문화 축제 아트바젤홍콩이 드디어 문을 열었습니다. 코로나19가 급격하게 퍼졌던 2020년 행사를 취소했고, 2021년과 2022년은 원격 페어로 진행되었습니다. 

After 4 years, Art Basel Hong Kong finally returned as a whole, and collectors are eager to attend the fair. This year, 177 galleries from 35 countries participated. This is a significant increase from the 130 participations in 2022.
 

마침내 4년 만에 완전체로 돌아온 아트바젤 홍콩에 대한 기대는 엄청났는데요. 올해는35개 국가, 177개의 갤러리가 참여했습니다. 이는 2022년 130개 참가 규모에서 큰 폭으로 증가한 수치입니다.

As the visit of Chinese super collectors was confirmed, the atmosphere was heated even before the fair started. It is known that mega galleries such as Gagosian, Pace, Hauser & Wirth, Davids Warner, and Perrotin have already sold a significant number of them.
 

중국 슈퍼 컬렉터들의 방문이 확정되면서 페어가 시작하기 전부터 분위기는 뜨거웠습니다. 가고시안, 페이스, 하우저앤워스, 데이비드즈워너, 페로탱 등 메가 갤러리는 이미 상당 부분 판매를 완료한 것으로 알려졌습니다. 

Twelve Korean galleries are also participating. which is the largest number ever. In the main section, , Arario, Gallery Baton, Hakgojae Gallery, Johyeon Gallery, Kukje Gallery, Lian Gallery, One and J Gallery, PKM Gallery, etc. displayed booths.
 

한국 갤러리도12곳이 참여합니다. 이는 역대 최다 규모로. 메인 섹션에는 아라리오, 갤러리바톤, 학고재갤러리, 조현갤러리, 국제갤러리, 리안갤러리, 원앤제이갤러리, PKM갤러리 등이 부스를 냈습니다.

Wooson Gallery participated in the insight section looking at Asian and Asia-Pacific artists, and Gallery 2, Jason Ham, and Whistle participated in the discovery section featuring one new artist.
 

아시아 및 아시아 태평양 작가를 조망하는 인사이트 섹션엔 우손갤러리가, 신진작가 1인을 선보이는 디스커버리즈 섹션엔 갤러리2, 제이슨 함, 휘슬 등이 참여했습니다. 

Korean galleries are expected to be active, but we also need to pay attention to Korean artists spotlighted by overseas galleries. Recently, Pace Gallery announced that it is supporting Yoo Young-guk (1916-2002),who lived from 1916 to 2002 and is known as Korea's first modernist and first abstract artist, is being supported by Pace Gallery as an exclusive artist. After his first show at Art Basel Hong Kong this year, he plans to hold a solo show at Pace New York with the help of PKM Gallery Korea this fall.
 

한국 갤러리의 활약도 기대되지만, 해외 갤러리가 조명한 한국 작가들도 눈여겨봐야 합니다. 최근 페이스갤러리는 한국 1세대 모더니스트이자 최초 추상 화가로 평가되는 유영국(1916-2002)작가를 전속 작가로 지원한다고 밝혔습니다. 한국 PKM갤러리와 공동으로, 올해 아트바젤 홍콩에서 처음 전시 한 뒤 올 가을엔 페이스 뉴욕에서 개인전을 개최할 계획입니다.
