Onew, a member of the K-pop group SHINee since their debut in 2008, has signed with the newly established company Griffin Entertainment, according to an announcement made by the agency on Wednesday.
The news was accompanied by a new profile picture of Onew, which he shared on his social media accounts along with a message expressing gratitude to his fans for their patience.
Onew had temporarily suspended all activities since June of the previous year due to health reasons, leading to his absence from SHINee's promotional events for their eighth studio album "Hard," which also marked the group's 15th anniversary of debut, including the Tokyo Dome concert.
Following his departure from SM Entertainment, where he had been under contract for 16 years, Onew chose to join Griffin Entertainment.
Despite the individual decisions of Onew and Taemin not to renew their contracts, SM Entertainment will continue to manage the activities of SHINee as a group.
