"Cupid" Ranks No. 44 on Hot 100 Songs Chart, Setting Records for K-pop Girl Groups

In a historic moment for K-pop, Fifty Fifty has become the first K-pop girl group to secure a spot on Billboard's year-end charts. The US music publication's 2023 year-end charts revealed that Fifty Fifty's "Cupid" claimed the No. 44 position on the prestigious Hot 100 songs chart, marking a significant milestone for the genre.

Billboard's year-end Hot 100 chart is a comprehensive compilation of the year's most significant hits in the US, incorporating factors such as digital and physical sales, online streaming, and radio airplays. 

▲ Courtesy of AttraktThe success of "Cupid" extends beyond the Hot 100, with Fifty Fifty achieving notable rankings on various charts. These include Top Artist at No. 75, Top Duo/Group at No. 6, Hot 100 Artist at No. 50, Hot 100 Artist Duo/Group at No. 3, Global 200 at No. 20, Global US Excl. at No. 20, Radio Songs at No. 68, and Pop Airplay Songs at No. 28.

Since its release in February, "Cupid" made an impressive debut on the weekly Hot 100 chart at No. 17, establishing Fifty Fifty as the fastest K-pop band to debut on the chart. The single maintained its presence on the Hot 100 for 25 consecutive weeks, setting a new record for the longest chart appearance by a K-pop girl group.

While the megahit single earned Fifty Fifty nominations in the top duo/group and top global K-pop song categories at the Billboard Music Awards, the group did not secure victory. Notably, Fifty Fifty began as a four-piece in November 2022 but currently has only one remaining member, Keena, as the label, Attrakt, terminated contracts with the other three members amid legal disputes.

In a statement on Thursday, Attrakt CEO Jeon Hong-jun expressed gratitude for the support received by Fifty Fifty in the past year and announced the label's commitment to challenging the global music market in the coming year with Fifty Fifty's distinctive music.
