Global Sae-A Group's Kim Woong-ki and Amorepacific's Suh Kyung-bae Recognized for Second Consecutive Year

Kim Woong-ki, chairman of apparel manufacturer Global Sae-A Group, and Suh Kyung-bae, chairman and CEO of cosmetics giant Amorepacific, have secured positions on ARTnews' prestigious list of the Top 200 Collectors of 2023. This marks the second consecutive year for both entrepreneurs to be recognized among the world's most influential collectors.

Kim Woong-ki:
Chairman of Global Sae-A Group, Kim gained attention last year for acquiring Kim Whanki's "Universe 5-IV-71 #200" at a 2019 Christie's Hong Kong auction. The purchase set a record as the most expensive Korean work ever auctioned, fetching HK$88 million (13.2 billion won). Kim is also noted for establishing the S2A gallery within Global Sae-A Group's headquarters in Seoul's Gangnam District, featuring exhibitions of Kim Whanki and Japanese master Yayoi Kusama.

Chairman and CEO of Amorepacific, Suh is recognized for his collection of traditional and contemporary Korean art. Amorepacific Museum of Art, operated by the company, is dedicated to researching and exhibiting Korea's art since its establishment in 1979. In 2023, the museum hosted "Beyond Folding Screens 2," featuring 51 rare decorative folding screens from the late Joseon period to the early modern era, and Asia's first retrospective of American conceptual artist Lawrence Weiner (1942-2021).
