June is shaping up to be an exciting month for K-pop enthusiasts with several A-list stars preparing to release new music.
Project girl group Kep1er, formed on the 2021 audition program "Girls Planet 999," will release its first full-length album, "Kep1going On," on June 3. The album will feature 10 tracks, including the lead single "Shooting Star," a synth-pop song with electric guitar and drum elements. The management companies, WakeOne and Swing Entertainment, stated that the album aims to celebrate the group's journey and showcase their musical development.
Kep1er, initially set to disband in July after two and a half years, remains one of the most popular K-pop acts, having sold 200,000 copies of its debut album, "First Impact," in the first week. There is growing support for extending their contract, but the group's future activities remain uncertain.
On June 13, K-pop singer Sunmi will release her new digital single, "Balloon in Love," through Abyss Company. A teaser on social media features Sunmi with wet hair, creating a dreamy and vintage atmosphere. The song, written by Sunmi, has a brighter vibe compared to her previous releases and was filmed in Croatia. Sunmi, who began her solo career in 2013, is known for hits like "Gashina" (2017). This new release comes eight months after her last digital single, "Stranger."
In addition to these releases, rookie boy band TWS will make a comeback on June 24 following their debut track "Plot Twist" earlier this year. NCT Wish, a sub-unit of the multinational boy group NCT, will release their second Japanese single, "Songbird," on June 26, available in both Japanese and Korean.
