Artists with developmental disabilities and famous artists working in Korea, have come together under the banner of art. They'll join hands to participate in the international art fair and group exhibition.
A dedicated booth for Vichaeart Museum will be set up in the exhibition hall. In booth, "Moon Jar" by Chul-joo Suk, "Space Boogie-Woogie" and "No Reason" by Kim In, "Heart" by Jae-ok Lee, and "Cycle Big Bang" by Chung-sik Chung will be present.
In addition, "Flower Song" by Han-sol Kwon and "Hope" by Yoon-Sung Kong, a painter with developmental disabilities, will also meet the audience. And "Hopes" by Hwi Kim(15), the youngest artist will be another highlight of ‘Global Art Fair Singapore 2022’.
"We hope that participating international art fair with developmental disabilities-artists and mid-career artists will help to reduce stereotypes about artists with developmental disabilities," said Soo-mi Jeon, director of Vichaeart Museum.
Vichaeart Museum will hold the exhibition “Dreamability” at Hangaram Design Museum in Seoul Arts Center, from November 17 to 27, 2022.
15 works by 5 famous artists ; master of oriental painting Haen-bo Park, Western painter Kim In, Jae-Ok Lee and Chung-Sik Chung, and sculptor Lee Ki Won, and 124 works of 84 artists with developmental disabilities, including artists who will participate in ‘Global Art Fair Singapore 2022’ will be presented at “Dreamability”.
“We can always imagine and we can do anything in our imagination. Artists with developmental disabilities can do anything in their imagination and so do I. Therefore, we are equal artists and teachers of each other,” said Chung-Sik Chung.
Vichaeart Museum has been presenting various exhibitions past years. Especially, Vichaeart Museum has been loved by many people since “Picasso, Into the Myth”, an exhibition marking the 140th anniversary of the artist’s birth and two special exhibitions for artists with developmental disabilities in September 2020 and January 2022.
"We are holding an exhibition to give a message of hope to those who believe that people who don't lose their dreams change the world.," said Soo-mi Jeon. “Through these two exhibitions I hope many artists with developmental disabilities get chances to be evaluated as an artist,” she added.
Tickets for “Dreamability” are now available for purchase at INTERPARK. 10,000 KRW for adults and 5,000 KRW for under 19 years old.
