Global and Korean Art Celebrations Jointly Kick Off, Drawing Over 10,000 Enthusiasts

Continuing their successful collaboration from the previous year, the world-renowned Frieze art fair and Korea's largest art fair, Kiaf, opened their doors simultaneously on the 6th at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul. With both events proving the growing interest in the domestic art scene, this year's joint celebration is set to elevate the art festival experience.

Anticipated to attract over 10,000 attendees from domestic and international art markets, the two fairs feature approximately 330 galleries from around the world. Kiaf, now in its 22nd year, will span five days, while Frieze will run for four days.

Similar to last year, visitors can purchase a ticket granting access to both art fairs for the entire duration at 250,000 won, with a one-day ticket available for 80,000 won. The events commenced with an exclusive gathering for industry professionals on the opening day, the 6th, and general viewing opened on the 7th. Exhibition spaces for Kiaf are located in Halls A and B as well as the Grand Ballroom on the first floor of COEX, while Frieze occupies Halls C and D on the third floor.

Considering the primary objective of these art fairs is the sale of artworks, it is noteworthy that over 70,000 art enthusiasts purchased tickets to attend Frieze's inaugural event in Korea last year, despite the relatively high ticket prices. Expectations are high for similar turnout this year, particularly during the weekends. Frieze boasts a diverse array of works from more than 120 galleries, with a notable presence of galleries from Asia and Korea.

Kiaf, featuring a total of 210 galleries (137 domestic and 63 overseas), offers a diverse range of exhibitions, including KIAF Plus, KIAF Highlights, New Media Art Special Exhibition, and a Special Exhibition showcasing the works of Park Saeng-kwang and Park Rae-hyun, titled 'Hometown of Color.' As part of the festivities, an exhibition space has also been established at Incheon International Airport.

In addition to the main events at COEX, major galleries in Seoul and across the country have organized their own separate exhibitions during the Kiaf and Frieze periods, providing a rich cultural experience for international art enthusiasts in attendance.
