In a significant achievement for the South Korean film industry, "12.12: The Day," a historical film depicting the 1979 military coup in South Korea, has exceeded 4 million ticket sales within its first twelve days of release, announced distributor Plus M Entertainment.

The film, directed by Kim Sung-su and released on November 22, reached the 1 million sales mark on its fourth day and the 3 million mark on the tenth day. Plus M Entertainment revealed that the film's break-even point is set at 4.6 million sales.

The main roles are played by actors Hwang Jung-min and Jung Woo-sung.

"12.12: The Day" is based on real historical events but incorporates fictional elements and characters, contributing to its widespread appeal. Industry insiders are speculating that the film could become the second 10 million-seller of the year after "The Roundup: No Way Out" if it sustains its current sales momentum.

The film's success underscores its popularity among audiences, making it a notable addition to the South Korean cinematic landscape.
