In a statement released by SM Entertainment on Friday, it was confirmed that aespa's fourth EP, titled "Drama," has exceeded 1.13 million units in sales during its initial week. This marks the third consecutive album from the group to achieve sales surpassing the one-million mark, following the success of their previous EPs, "Girls" and "My World."
The new mini album, "Drama," received a notable "double platinum" certification from QQ Music, China's largest music platform. The achievement further underscores the group's growing international acclaim.
Coinciding with the release, aespa commemorated its third anniversary with a fan meeting held in Seoul on Friday. The event, which was broadcast online for a global audience, allowed fans from around the world to join in the celebration.
Since their debut in 2020 with the digital single "Black Mamba," aespa has garnered significant attention in the K-pop scene. Their third EP, "My World," released in May, continues to hold records for first-day and first-week sales among K-pop girl groups. Additionally, all three of their previous EPs have secured positions within the top 20 on the prestigious Billboard 200 chart.
