The new magician of 'Light and Color' German painting artist Helene B. Grossmann is coming to Korea

Helene B. Grossmann, who is called the new magician of 'Light and Color', will be hosting Korea's first solo exhibition 'Color / Light / Space' at Paik Hae Young Gallery in Itaewon, Seoul from August 31st.
Helene B. Grossmann is a German painter who continues the genealogy of light painters William Turner (1775-1851) and Claude Monet (1840-1926). This exhibition is the first time that 22 of her works, from 2010 to 2022, will be introduced to Korea.
Although she was inspired by artists who had previously explored light, including James Turrell and the German romantics Kasper David Friedrich, William Turner, and the contemporary Artist Gotthard Graubner, she built her own unique world of light. That's why she's called her new magician of 'light and color'.
Her magic of light starts with sketchings. She creates her own world by coloring her work, which In particular, her unique interpretation of her light, which appeared in this process, is second to none. The light on her canvas created by her is characterized by warmth and gentleness like mother's warm breasts.
Helene B. Grossmann said, "My aim is to create pictures full of pulsating life in detail and peace as a whole." In the end, the light she created seems to be directed towards the theme of 'peace' like mother's warm breasts.
Helene B. Grossmann has held many solo exhibitions in Germany, Switzerland, the United States, and other parts of the world, and she has also participated in meaningful group exhibitions. Notable among them are Helene B. Grossmann-Die Welt Des Lichtes Und Der Farbe, Beck & Eggeling International Fine Art 2000 in Dusseldorf, Galerie Terminus in Munich and Galerie Mollwo in Riehen.
This special exhibition was planned by
soon joo Kim, director of B/S Kunstraum. Also, in this exhibition, not only artist Helene B. Grossmann but also her daughter Heike Grossmann, a famous art director, visited Korea, attracting public attention.
It remains to be seen how Korean viewers will fall in love with her magic of light and color.
The exhibition will be open until September 30.
