Production company Studio N announced on Thursday that "Yumi's Cells: The Movie," an animated film adaptation of Naver Webtoon's renowned love comedy series "Yumi's Cells" (2015-20), is scheduled to be released in local theaters on April 3.
The film delves into the intricacies of the protagonist's brain cells, each responsible for governing distinct emotions and characteristics, ranging from love and anxiety to hunger and fashion.
"Yumi's Cells" stands out as one of the most popular webtoon series to date, boasting 512 episodes that collectively garnered an impressive 3.2 billion views throughout its five-year run.
This cinematic adaptation follows the success of the webtoon and aims to bring the charming world of Yumi's brain cells to the big screen. The animated feature promises an engaging exploration of the protagonist's inner workings, providing a visual representation of the emotions and traits depicted in the webtoon.
The love comedy series, having achieved immense popularity, expanded its reach with a drama adaptation that aired from 2021 to 2022 on TV channel tvN and the streaming service Tving.
