Suga, a member of the renowned K-pop group BTS, commenced basic military training on Thursday at a boot camp in a central region as part of his ongoing alternative service, confirmed by the group's agency.
Under his original Korean name, Min Yoon-gi, the rapper has been serving as a social service agent since September, a prescribed alternative to traditional military service in South Korea.
Suga entered the Army training camp in Nonsan, situated 152 kilometers south of Seoul, as stated by BigHit Music. The move adheres to the conscription system, which mandates all social service agents to complete three weeks of basic training midway through their service.
Upon the conclusion of his training, Suga will resume his duties as a social service agent. His discharge is anticipated for June 2025.
In South Korea, mandatory military service lasting at least 18 months is obligatory for all able-bodied men.
