The thriller series "The Escape of the Seven" is set to return with a sequel titled "The Escape of The Seven: Resurrection," following the conclusion of its first season last November.
Director Oh Joon-hyuk discussed the upcoming season during a press conference at SBS headquarters in Yangcheon District. He emphasized that while it's season two, the series is embarking on a fresh narrative journey with a new title.
Season two aims to provide a more satisfying development from the previous season's storyline. The director highlighted a focus on individual character emotions and the condemnation and revenge faced by those who committed wrongdoings.
The series revolves around seven characters, including CEO Matthew Lee, drama producer Geum La-hui, ex-gangster Min Do-hyuk, and actor Han Mo-Ne, entangled in a game of lies and betrayal after the disappearance of Geum's daughter.
In the new season, Min returns with a vengeance towards Matthew, revealing his true identity and setting off another game of revenge among the group.
Hwang Jung-eum, portraying the character of Geum La-hui, discussed her preparation for the role, noting the challenge of portraying a power-hungry antagonist. She emphasized the evolution of her character's portrayal in season two.
Amid personal issues, including undergoing a divorce, Hwang expressed gratitude for the support of her colleagues and maintained focus on her professional duties during filming.
The cast and crew dedicated two years to the series, aiming to deliver a compelling narrative and performances for viewers.
