Taeyang of K-pop group BIGBANG is confirmed as the main producer for Mnet's upcoming girl group audition show, "I-LAND2: N/a." The program serves as a sequel to the channel's 2020 show, "I-LAND," which launched boy band Enhypen.
"I-LAND2: N/a" will feature 24 contestants selected from Mnet's global audition held in 13 cities worldwide. The participants will compete to join a new girl group managed by WAKEONE Entertainment.
In a teaser released on YouTube, Taeyang expressed his intention to impart identity, skills, and personality to aspiring singers. Having debuted with BIGBANG in 2006, the 35-year-old has established himself as a versatile artist excelling in singing, dancing, and music production.
Joining Taeyang as a key figure is Teddy Park, the show's 'master producer,' known for penning numerous K-pop hits including BLACKPINK's "Shut Down" (2023). Park, also the founder of The Black Label, will collaborate with Taeyang to discover hidden talent.
Music producers for the program include 24 and VVN from The Black Label, known for their contributions to BLACKPINK's discography and solo projects. Additionally, Monika, leader of dance crew PROWDMON, and Leejung, from YGX crew, will serve as performance directors, both having participated in Mnet's "Street Woman Fighter" (2021).
"I-LAND2: N/a" is slated to premiere on April 18, marking another venture in the quest for the next generation of K-pop stars.
