Jang Da-a, known as the older sister of IVE's Jang Won-young, made her debut as an actor in the recently concluded Tving original drama series "Pyramid Game."
The psychological thriller revolves around class 2-5 of an all-girls high school, where students vote for each other's popularity via a mobile app called the Pyramid Game. Adapted from Dalgonyak's Naver webtoon, the series delves into the consequences of social ranking, with the F rank subject to severe bullying.
In her first acting role, Jang portrays Baek Ha-rin, a popular student who secretly orchestrates the Pyramid Game's manipulative dynamics. While Ha-rin appears admired on the surface, she is revealed to be the mastermind behind the cruelty within the class.
Jang expressed the challenge of portraying Ha-rin's complex character, balancing her icy demeanor with underlying layers of emotion and trauma. She collaborated closely with the showrunner, Park So-yeon, to capture the nuances of Ha-rin's emotional journey.
Jang's performance garnered attention for her ability to convey Ha-rin's intricacies, prompting audience reactions and speculation about her character's traits.
Reflecting on her journey, Jang emphasized her passion for acting, which she discovered alongside her earlier pursuits in dance. She expressed gratitude for the learning experience and looks forward to continuing her acting career.
