The House of Environmental Education and Sustainable Development (EEDD) in Tourlaville, a delegated commune of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin in Manche, France, has been adorned with two magnificent murals created by artist Blesea. Located directly across from the Collignon swimming pool, the establishment now showcases vibrant street art that brings a burst of color and creativity to its facade.
Visitors can enjoy a double discovery at the House of EEDD by also exploring the current exhibition titled "When Night Falls," which runs through November 21, 2025. This exhibition, conceived and created by the House of EEDD, invites guests to explore both countryside and urban environments during nighttime hours when most people are asleep and darkness sets in.
The exhibition addresses fascinating questions about nocturnal life: What happens in our streets and near our homes after dark? Who visits our gardens at night? To answer these questions, numerous display panels feature rich illustrations by Céline Lecoq and photographs by Lilian Sineux, offering visitors comprehensive explanations and diverse examples of nighttime wildlife and urban activity.
Starting November 26, a new exhibition titled "Where Are You, Wolf?" will take over in the main hall, continuing the center's commitment to environmental education. The House of EEDD maintains an active schedule throughout the year, offering numerous workshops focused on nature and environmental themes.
Upcoming workshops include "Garden Birds" on January 17, "Funny Fish" on February 17, "The Land of Water" on Thursday, February 19, and "Waste: Cumbersome Companions" on February 24. These educational programs demonstrate the center's dedication to fostering environmental awareness and sustainable development practices among visitors of all ages.
The House of Environmental Education and Sustainable Development is located at 356 Rue des Algues and can be contacted at 02 33 22 22 16 or through www.cherbourg.fr. The facility operates Tuesday through Friday from 10 AM to 12 PM and from 2 PM to 5:30 PM, making it accessible for both school groups and individual visitors interested in environmental education.
