Gyeongju— Global K-pop superstar G-Dragon is set to take the stage at the highly anticipated APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting gala dinner this Friday, performing for world leaders and top-ranking officials from the 21 member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.
The exclusive welcome banquet will be held at the Lahan Select Gyeongju, a four-star hotel in the host city. G-Dragon, who is the only K-pop artist invited to perform at the high-profile official dinner, is expected to deliver a creative and innovative cultural showcase highlighting South Korea’s powerful cultural impact on the global scene, according to his agency, Galaxy Corporation.
G-Dragon was appointed as an official APEC ambassador in July and has actively promoted the summit through various official campaigns. A promotional video featuring the artist has already garnered over 17 million views as of Monday, underscoring his massive international reach. Despite a demanding world tour schedule, the star reportedly traveled frequently between South Korea and the United States to film the video.
"The APEC organizing committee selected G-Dragon as an ambassador because his global influence aligns perfectly with the summit’s core themes of connection and sustainability," an APEC preparation committee official stated. "We anticipate him delivering an outstanding performance at the welcome dinner."
G-Dragon is currently headlining his third world tour, "Übermensch," with stops spanning major cities across the Asia-Pacific (including Tokyo, Taipei, Hong Kong, and Jakarta) and global hubs like Paris, Newark, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. His tour is slated to conclude with final concerts in Seoul in December.
