On March 8, at ONE Fight Night 20: Todd vs. Phetjeeja, Phetjeeja emerged victorious in the main event at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, unifying the ONE Women’s Atomweight Kickboxing World Title. Janet “JT” Todd, the defending champion, not only relinquished her title but also participated in the final bout of her extensive career.
At just 22 years old and holding the interim title, Phetjeeja showcased her prowess by utilizing overhand rights effectively against Todd, initiating the contest on International Women’s Day. Employing them strategically behind her jab and fake push kicks, the Thai phenom demonstrated her dominance.
Despite Todd's accurate body kicks – a trademark in her fighting style – it was evident that the retiring veteran was up against a formidable opponent. Forced to defend on the back foot, Todd countered with left hooks and one-twos. However, as the fight progressed, Phetjeeja's energy and aggression became increasingly apparent.
In the final minutes of the bout, Phetjeeja secured a definitive eight-count with a low kick-right hand combo, solidifying her victory. Representing Team Mehdi Zatout, she improved her overall record to 208-6 and attained the undisputed ONE Women’s Atomweight Kickboxing World Championship.
In an emotional conclusion, Janet “JT” Todd bid farewell to her professional career, laying her gloves on the canvas. With a career spanning over a decade, Todd's journey included more than 50 fights, leading her to become a two-sport World Champion in ONE. The event exemplified the transition of champions in the realm of combat sports.
