Director Jeong Ji-hye's Award-Winning Drama Set to Release in Theaters on April 17th

"Jeong-sun," a film directed by Jeong Ji-hye, is slated to premiere in local theaters on April 17th. The drama focuses on the story of Jeong-sun, an ordinary middle-aged woman portrayed by Kim Kum-soon, who grapples with the aftermath of digital sex crimes.

Jeong-sun works at a food factory and leads a simple life after raising her daughter Yoo-jin as a single mother. Her life takes a dark turn when she becomes involved in a secret workplace relationship with a new worker named Yeong-su, played by Cho Hyun-woo. After Yeong-su shares a private video of Jeong-sun, the film explores the repercussions as the video spreads throughout the community.

The film has received acclaim, winning eight awards globally, including the Grand Prize at the 23rd Jeonju International Film Festival and the Grand Jury Prize and Best Actress at the 17th Rome Film Fest in 2022. It has also been invited to prestigious international film festivals such as the BFI London Film Festival and the San Sebastian Film Festival.

Kim Kum-soon delivers a nuanced performance, portraying Jeong-sun's complex emotions as she grapples with the trauma of the crime. The film aims to shed light on the often overlooked issue of digital sexual assault on middle-aged women and provoke discussion on societal perceptions surrounding such crimes.

"Jeong-sun" seeks to bring hope to victims of digital sex crimes and challenge biases by urging audiences to consider the issue from a mature perspective. The film's exploration of Jeong-sun's journey through tragedy resonates with themes of resilience and empowerment.
