Kim Jaehwan, formerly a member of the K-pop group Wanna One, will commence his mandatory military service on July 1, according to a statement from his agency, WakeOne Entertainment, on Friday. He will serve as a member of the Army’s military band.
Kim recently renewed his contract with WakeOne Entertainment, becoming the first idol to debut through Mnet’s audition show to do so. He originally debuted in 2017 as a member of Wanna One, a project group formed through the second season of “Produce 101.” After the group disbanded following a year and a half of activity, Kim embarked on a solo career.
Earlier this month, Kim released his seventh EP, “I Adore,” for which he participated in writing lyrics and melodies for all tracks, including the focus track “Amaid.”
