Five German mountain climbers have died in an avalanche accident in South Tyrol, according to Italian mountain rescue services. The tragedy occurred in the mountainous region of northern Italy, claiming the lives of all involved climbers.

A spokesperson from the mountain rescue service in Sulden confirmed to the German Press Agency that the two climbers who were initially reported missing had certainly not survived the disaster. The rescue teams had been conducting search operations in the area following reports of the avalanche incident.

Three victims have already been recovered from the avalanche site, including two men and one woman. The bodies were retrieved by rescue teams working in challenging mountain conditions. The remaining two victims, who were previously listed as missing persons, are now confirmed to have perished in the same incident.

The avalanche represents one of the deadliest mountain accidents involving German climbers in the South Tyrol region in recent memory. Mountain rescue officials continue to work at the scene to complete recovery operations and investigate the circumstances that led to this tragic event.
